FinTech & InsurTech accelerators

Accelerators for FinTech & InsurTech founders

Fintech and insurtech accelerators split into two camps, and the cash-for-equity camp is the minority here. BrokerTech Ventures invests $50,000 through a SAFE, and the Global Insurance Accelerator invests $50,000 for 5% equity; both grew out of the Des Moines insurance ecosystem. Most of the vertical runs on access instead. FinTech Innovation Lab New York, FinTech Sandbox, InsurTech NY's Match Program, and Plug and Play Fintech take no equity and charge no fees, and their value is structured contact with banks, carriers, reinsurers, data providers, and corporate partners. Corporate programs from FIS, ICBA, and Mastercard follow a similar pattern with financial terms that are mostly unpublished. Two well-known names, the Financial Solutions Lab and OnRamp Insurance, have not announced cohorts in years; we list them with honest status notes rather than stale terms. Every figure on these pages is the program's own published number. Where a program does not publish a figure, we say so instead of guessing.
